The Shakespearean Menagerie is an exciting exhibition by University of Portsmouth BA Illustration students, capturing some of the range of the creatures featured in Shakespeare's plays and sonnets.

In association with the Much Ado About Portsmouth festival and the Shakespearean Communities conference, we are delighted to be welcoming renowned silent film pianist Neil Brand to the University of Portsmouth on Thursday 14th April.

Neil will be performing at a showing of the 1921 silent film Hamlet, starring Asta Nielsen.

Tickets are for the film showing and performance only. Unfortunately, tickets for the preceding 7pm wine reception are no longer available. We regret that we are unable to sell tickets at the door, so please book online in advance.

The Sonnet Oscars

The Sonnet Oscars is the culmination of our Sonnets for Schools competition.

Nominees for prizes will be invited with family and friends to witness the awards for the best sonnet in three age categories.

Prizes for the winning sonnets will include free public display in the Central Library in Portsmouth, publication in the local press, the award of a sonnet "Oscar" statue and a prize.

We also have a surprise guest!
